PROJECTS over the next 5 Years -2019-2024

HEDGEROWS
The first phase of the Hedgerows Project is complete as of 2021 thanks to all our members and donors. FOMCP was able to contribute $10,000 over the past 2 years to this project.

LIFE-SIZE FARMER CUTOUTS
Life-size signs of farmers, tractors and other agricultural imagery will be installed at Martial Cottle Park, greeting visitors and indicating what is being grown in the farm here today or hinting at the storied agricultural past of the ranch. Three cut outs by San Jose artist Francisco Ramirez will be installed in 2023.

YOUTH PROGRAM FUND
Martial Cottle Park’s school program for 2nd and 3 rd graders is gaining in popularity. Additional funds for transportation for low-income schools could help more students participate and learn about life on the ranch.

MURAL
A mural along the park trail under Hwy 85 would provide a welcome park entrance and could tell the story of Martial Cottle Park’s past, present and future. It could also be a great community-building project and reduce graffiti on these walls. Initial project scope and design has been completed by Parks staff. Project estimates at $20,000 for 7 panels of mural art and history. Looking for grant funding.

WHAT’S GROWING SIGNS
Signs indicating what is growing in the Jacob’s Farms fields were installed spring 2022.

FARM EQUIPMENT REFURBISHMENT
Farm equipment is being evaluated for refurbishment. Currently looking at what projects will be funded by Friends of Martial Cottle Park.
